I'm partial to the old-fashioned look of Samantha's button up boots with black tights. I've found that combination looks cute with any dress she wears.
I agree Samantha's spring party dress looks a bit off-white, not white like her middy dress. I haven't tried Samantha's spring dress with the white boots yet. Perhaps the white boots will be too white to look nice.
Once again, AG could solve all my Samantha fashion dilemmas by simply making a pair of black button up boots.
As to which dress is nicer, I love Samantha's dress! I wish there were more roses in the detail but the style is so original. Any dress that looks different, with unique detail, makes it more appealing to me. Probably because the style won't ever be found on a doll shelf at Toys-R-Us. Samantha's spring dress detail closely follows the fashions I found in various books of early 1900's children's clothing.

Well, I think you should get both, but what you really need are Samantha's cream colored shoes...they're practically free with the coupon and they are so cute! That little heel makes them so adorable!
As far as the dresses go, I think Samantha's dress is beautiful, but the one for Nellie is really an incredible deal. It comes with tights, shoes, a fancy hairbow and a really sweet necklace. I would definately get that one first and then the other one, too! You just know you'll kick yourself when they're both gone (well, that's what I keep doing when I miss out on something...lol!)

I guess I should just get both. We can put Kirsten
in Nellie's dress. This darn coupon is driving me crazy! PS - I always did love those cream colored shoes but I wasn't too crazy about the lawn party outfit that they went with.

Can't go wrong with getting both, Judi!
I got Nellie's myself as I liked it better, but I think Sam's is great too... the little flower details look so pretty on it. And I bet either would look just perfect on Kirsten.

Julia, please let me know if Sam's spring dress goes with white high button shoes. If it does not then it will probably solve my what to order dilema!

I don't know who made them but it wasn't AG but I had a pair of little black button up boats for my Samantha. They were hard to button like Sam's sailor boots were but very cute with her school outfit.
If you like Nellie's dress better you should just get Nellie's dress. I had another doll, not an AG but the same size and I insisted that when I played school, that her and Samantha had to wear uniforms like I had to, and had to have the same school dress. So we ordered another Samantha school dress for her and I had 2 of them. I think Sam and Nellie could swap clothes easily, or wear matching dresses. The only thing I don't like is putting Lissie or a Kit in a Samantha dress or vise versa. They just don't look like themselves.

I bought Sam's because we have Sam and we will never own Nellie. Nellie is my niece's doll. But I do think Nellie's dress is a lot nicer and you get shoes as well. So I would get Nellie's or if you can afford both get both.

Has anyone tried Nellie or Samantha's dresses with the black patent leather shoes? I like Nellie's dress, but I don't like the shoes that come with it. I also don't want to spend another $8 for the cream colored shoes to go with Samantha's dress. I already have black shoes for both girls, but I have no imagination. I would think that black shoes would go with most everything, wouldn't they????
